How would you finish this?

I quoted to do the painting on a job, but have been left with the taping and jointing too.

What do you reckon to this? Im thinking rapid repair the big gaps with embeded scrim then fill over as normal, sand, paint and run a bead of mastic round to finish? Or just Caulk it?

Open to ideas...

I working a very large property on some maintenance .
There was some bits which had to be touch in with F & B Estate emulsion.
Tins were new but been left on a shelf in the basement (dry) for just over a year.
When putting lids back on I can only explain that it seem to pop the join on the bottom of the tin.
Lucky I was in the workshop. So just be a bit careful folks.

Which sealer ?

Hi Guys, I have a staircase coming up in a couple of weeks that has all the spindles and handrails etc done in the old "Dulux Woodsheen" and they want it painted white.
Now, from previous memory this will more than likely chip off at the slightest thing if touched.
I was thinking of using Zinsser to prime it first after a thorough rub down.
My question is which one would you suggest ?

Cheers Lads. Rob

Ive just looked at some previous threads and Coverstain seems to fit the bill, would this...

I notice on Amazon.com it comes with a proposition 65 warning

'California's Proposition 65 entitles California consumers to special warnings for products that contain chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm if those products expose consumers to such chemicals above certain threshold levels'

Pasting Brush.

Evening all, hope we are all good and busy. Just asking if any one can recommend a good 8 inch pasting brush that doesn't lose bristles. I retired my old one around 2 years ago , as it started losing bristles and if you didn't spot them you could see them under the lining paper! I have gone through a couple of cheapies and they were crap. I have scoured the internet and bought a new one 2 weeks ago, have done a load of lining over the last 2 weeks and it is worse than my old retired one!...

Anyone seen these on MyPaintbrush - Seal-A-Tube?
Pop the tool into your caulk nozzle when you've finished caulking. Stops the end drying out.

Worth a punt for the price?

PAINTED STEEL CONTAINER

I have just received an email for a quote to paint this steel container. The client is wanting it a bright red gloss. Wheat gloss am I best using on this. I will need to be very hardwearing. I think I works out at 56m2 all in, so preferably that's sold in gallon tins. Also the client says there is a few dents in the container so I will need to fill these, do anyone recommend a filler I would use for this? Thanks for any help in advance.

Benjamin Moore site visit - Slough.

@bitzz has just mentioned/reminded again about a group of us going to visit Craig and Helen at BM in Slough. Only trouble being, it will be during the week so we'd need to take a day off from work to visit them.

I have just plucked two dates out of the diary in March '16 (I don't really know where I should be on them dates) so it could be awkward for me and I'll end up telling a client some porky about me having a tooth out or something.

The two dates to pick between are...

I have been trying out the new Fox masking tapes from My Paintbrush.

I've used the low tack and 14 day tapes and they have both been excellent and a great price too.

Hello everybody Im new on here . I have a small shopfront coming up soon. In the past I have used ext. oil based paints for this type of job. I am using mostly wb paints these days and would like to use water based for this job. The woodwork is currently red gloss, previously a vodafone shop! The customer wants it cream in a satin finish. I was considering using Zinsser Allcoat or Superdec. There seems to be good reviews of these products but are they hard wearing enough for front doors, do...

Hi all,

I have posted this on the dulux select site (which I have not been on for a long while) and I'm amazed at the lack of response except for a few well respected decorators who feel the same and for that I give thanks)

I know you have heard this all before, most have moved on and it will not affect you directly now but I'm asking for your help as I did love the dulux select scheme in the way of guaranteeing work etc and this is now impossible as I can't use their products.

Professional working practices

Hi all,
Could anyone point me to resources/tips for better working practices in terms of looking after tools and being organised and tidy at work.
My finished work is always tidy but sometimes I feel a little chaotic in my work methods and organisation. I know maybe it sounds obvious to some but....not always to me!
I came to painting and decorating in an unusual fashion and missed out on this training.
Thanks,
Tess

Fox masking tape

Recieved some samples from Mypaintbrush to try.

Only used the blue so far, but have to say its great stuff. I am using it along side the standard Scotch blue.

It has similar level of tack, but I find it comes off the roll cleaner. (see pic of 3M to see what I mean).

Another plus is how cheap it is

I used it under a sill on fresh painted walls yesterday, with no bleed and it came off clean without pulling the emulsion off.

Also it doesn't have the odour of 3M

Anyway its worth giving it...
