Ailments

OK the title is the question how many of us are painting and decorating when our ailments would dictate otherwise.

I've got arthritis in my spine hip and knuckles and currently have an issue with a painful heel to and the eyesight ain't what it used to be .

I'm in pain daily but still push myself up ladders etc.

What ailments do you guys have and push through in order to keep going?

Afternoon all.

GX21 wouldn’t prime today when flushing it out and noticed that the ball knocker was stuck.
I undid the nut and it was clean and the ball rolled out. Looked inside and the was also a little spring in the cavity on its side.....
Anyone know where the spring sits or where it goes ?

A couple of years back I was lucky to be given a couple of brushes from Shaw Paints.

Not a good start on first outing!

I was excited to give it ago as I had yet to try a chimnex brush so I tried it in BM Advanced being a rails tail and angled brush, it was ok but a bit leggy at the tip I thought if the angle of the bristles was less then it would be better, to be honest I didn't use it for quite a while.

I grabbed it to paint some coving one day after a few minutes I remember thinking I...

I've got to price a job and the customer has been Googling and came across Tikkurila, likes the look of it and wants it. End of!
"Yes madam, of course madam." I say with a scared look :scared:

The only problem I have is, they want vinyl silk on lids and walls and the Nova 20 is the only thing that is like that with Tikk. Unless someone here knows different.

In the meantime,,, has anyone used the Nova 20 vinyl silk and what is it like?
i.e. coverage, can they do F&B colours etc.

I'm also...

Best way to remove flame retardant varnish?

I've been asked if I could strip and refinish pitch pine panels in an old castle. I've not yet seen the condition however another local painter has asked for my help. He says he has tried nitromors, paramore, heat gun etc and got nowhere with them The other problem is he doesn't know what fire retardant varnish was originally used. Have you guys any tips on the most productive way to get back to bare wood. I hate the thoughts of scraping for days with a skarsten.

Cottage cheese paint.

Hi chaps.
I did a favour job this afternoon for a neighbour and I painted his ceiling with some white acrylic eggshell he already had , when he came home he said when he'd got it out of the shed it was a bit like cottage cheese but it stirred up ok.
It did seem to go on ok and I'd have been none the wiser if he hadn't told me but now I'm worried the frost had got to it and it'll end up flaking and splitting .
Do you think if I give it a coat of zinsser peel stop then a couple of coats of...

Crown have these and a £10+ vat promotion the Pro 3 is a Adhesive, sealent and filler that you can choose white or clear.

The Pro 1 is a adhesive and Pro 2 adhesive and sealent all apparently can be painted with WB paint!

They also produce a straight caulk sausage, the gun can also hold the normal caulk tubes both sizes.

Anyone had a chance to try one yet?

Reviews on amazon for what is really a bit of a toy are good. See America amazon here but for wb primer or BIN it maybe useful, or small spray project....

Trying something different to sandwiches, so I take £5 ASDA food flask. Fill up ¾ full (350ml ISH) with hot water about 12pm and pour in packet. Put lid on then eat around 12.45pm when I'm ready to stop. Guess you could take hot water in flask.I love pasta or noddles and rice. Under 200 calories
I iz gotten fat bxxxxx over christmas so been doing this for a couple of weeks. Much more filling than sandwiches. The cake the lady supplied on job last week never helped :blush:but will...

So... I'm a lazy bugger when it comes to brush cleaning. Tend to just clean with soap and water on a daily basis and even lash them in the bin when they go a bit stiff. This caught my eye in my local depot so thought I'd give it a go. Just left these to soak in a weak solution with water overnight. They've come out like new. All residual paint completely removed from the stock and lovely and soft. No nastys in there either, biodegradable and no smell.
