dulux trade w/b quick drying satin, failed in high traffic areas

I was chatting to another dec the other day , and he applied this and within 6 months the handrail had failed and was going back to do it in oil,

What water based paints have you guys used and do you use them for high traffic areas as well, handrails , doors with plenty of traffic e.t.c. , can they be wiped down as well, to get rid of any dirt and marks

I myself am using dt oil satinwood can get 5 litres for £35 , and want to get over to w/b , but don't want to do 3 or 4 coats on big jobs...
